It's quite long, got me thru a weeks worth of work. An interesting story of one girl's experience of prep school, where nothing really happens
There were so many times when Lee makes cringe-worthy decisions it sometimes made it difficult to relate to this character. However, the fact that this book was so well written and that so many of the observations and reflections were poignant and accurate, made it worth the read and memorable. Glad I finally got to this book. I definitely enjoyed it more than Sisterland.
3.5 stars but rounding up because of other harsh reviews. I enjoyed this book and found the protagonist all at once relatable and frustrating and unique. For that reason it was a compelling read and a good coming-of-age tale.
The end of the book was far better than the beginning. I'm glad I held on until the end but it didn't wow me.
I really enjoyed this at the start, but ultimately wanted to see more growth in the main character.
I felt this book captured what it was like to be a high-schooler (though I didn't go to prep school) and feel like an outsider. There were such cringe-worthy moments that felt very real...so it clearly evoked a reaction from me. But I didn't enjoy it and that was probably the point.
