Not to this degree but can relate to being an overthinking teen getting in her own way and the tensions she has as she conforms and also clashes with this very particular environment of a prep high school

Another book that in my opinion falls under the YA category, and I am too old to be reading about YA subject matters. I almost gave up early on in the book but trudged through it. Not sure if that was the right move. I couldn’t relate to the character, and I wasn’t empathetic at all to her weird boarding school issues.

Maybe I was too old to read this, but when reflecting on my high school experiences, I couldn't really relate to the intense paranoia of the main character when she overthinks every interaction with another person. Somewhat entertaining nonetheless.

Not as good as the American Wife, but still good with valid commentary on high school.

Main character was a bit weird and hard to relate to though. Is anyone THAT neurotic?

The author recreates that high school awkward feeling perfectly. Not a hugely plot-driven novel, nor as many reviewers note did the main character have a huge developmental breakthrough, but I thought it was interesting to relive those years through Lee and to imagine how much of her self-evaluation was accurate. It was one of many novels I've read recently that make me want to read the same story told from another character's perspective as well.

Wonderfully observed. Narrator is immensely frustrating however.
