I’ve never been so afraid of identifying so much with a protagonist like this before…

Little bit of a re-read, as I originally started this book when I was in high school around it’s publication year, but had to put it down because it was hitting a little too close to home (plus like, being 14). Reading it more than 15 years later (owie) took me right back but this time I was older Lee, providing insight from the present future.

Imperfection is beauty!!!! Messy, moody, honest, good. My journey on becoming a scholar of Sittenfeld has begun!

I had hoped to love this more, because of all of the hype. I like many of her other books more than this one- but this book is still far superior than so many other authors…

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt more conflicted about a book. On one hand this was painfully slow and at times felt pointless. On the other I appreciated its honesty and raw look at adolescence.
