What a delightful retelling of Pride and Prejudice.. Elizabeth Bennet has become Liza, a DJ and activist in DC, fighting against gentrification and unaffordable housing being planned in her neighborhood, trying to push people like her family out. Darcy has become Dorsey, a Filipino adopted into a wealthy family, and the head of the company trying to build the housing Liza is fighting against.
I loved the family dynamics built in this book, and Liza was excellent..such an incredible woman. It was a super fun take on the classic story.
I read this because it was recommended my Ali Hazelwood, one of my favorite authors. I'll take her recommendations for sure!

Yes! Love this modern, steamy Pride & Prejudice adaptation starring a Black radio DJ and a Filipino businessman in an enemies-to-lovers romance. Highly recommend!

DID NOT FINISH: 7%

I am not willing to subject myself to a character that racially profiles another character and makes assumptions about their employment and social status (regardless of them being POCs in this book) for the sake of character development.

This is a really smart retelling that gave me new insights into the classic. I can only complain at the name Dorsey.

I am a sucker for Pride and Prejudice retellings. ❤️
