4.5 I know that this was the whole point but reading this felt so much like the movie. But it had a uniqueness that I really appreciated. Nikki kind of told the story from the other side with people of color and gave so much depth to the story.

PS I was cracking up when I first saw how she changed the names from the original.

nikki payne, for being so dialed in, produced a romance book that i can only describe as ideologically lost? but not in a lost in the woods way more like a lost in the labyrinth from Labyrinth way. but by god did she write an entertaining book despite that. i LOVED to love the characters and i loved to hate they when they got on my nerves. also i laughed myself to tears SEVERAL times. ROMANCE IS BACK!! WHIMSY IS ALIVE!!!
