A lovely gentle story, although not without its dark moments. I couldn't connect to the main character too much, and got a bit annoyed at some of the wriilting, especially the tendency to write A Lot In Capitals and the wat it sometimes felt a bit *too* British. Did people genuinely say or think "he was ever so kind" that much? Still, it's an entertaining and engaging story set in an interesting time and place, and I'm looking forward to reading more from this series.

I loved this book, it made me laugh, it almost made my cry. Emmy seemed a bit of a hopeless sap but you can't help liking her.

I haven't read a ww2 book for ages but this has renewed my interest. I hope the sequel is just as good.

Dear Mrs. Bird is a very cute book that gives a more human view of London during the constant bombardments of WWII than you stereotypical bravery-in-the-face-of-tragedy story. For a first novel, there was good character development in some, but not all, of the subjects. This, along with a too-perfect ending, gets it 4 stars instead of 5. But, I think the author has a lot of promise due to her characters, style, and tone. Looking forward to see what she produces next.
