Definitely more spicy than the first book and I whole-heartedly approve. Charlotte was a character that I had to warm up to a bit because she was so stand-offish and prim to the point of painfulness. But, I think that's why putting her with Alex was a good idea and how he was able to show her that it's OK to relax and be herself. Especially once she gets out from under her controlling aunt. Who, by the way, I saw as far more nefarious than Miss Darlington in the first book. Overall, a decent showing; sweet story about overcoming childhood trauma for a bit and putting yourself out there.

Utterly delightful! Now that I really understand Holton’s writing style, I am completely enamored by her stories. I LOVE Charlotte and Alex! Their entire relationship was perfection. The rivalry between pirates and witches was complete madness and thoroughly enjoyable.

I kept getting the senior witches and pirates confused, due to the sheer number of characters. But it kind of went along with the chaos of the story, so I didn’t worry too much about keeping them straight. I absolutely cannot wait to read Bixby and Miss Dearlove’s story!!

This book follows Charlotte who belongs to a secret society of women who practice witchcraft as she must team up with a pirate (the sworn enemies of witches) in order after an ancient, powerful amulet is stolen.
This was a really fun book and one that I very much enjoyed reading. I laughed out loud multiple times while reading this book and I particularly loved all the jokes tied to literary conventions, especially those of a romance novel. This book doesn't take itself too seriously which I ultimately really appreciated. I also really liked Charlotte as a main character and I loved the journey of discovery she went on over the course of this book. I also liked the main romantic relationship and I thought that their dynamic was very fun.
Ultimately, this was an incredibly fun read and one that I would recommend.

Very cute and funny. LOVED all the Pride and Prejudice references. I liked this book more than the first which barely happens with sequels.
