This second book lived up to all my sky high expectations, with a romping adventure, laugh out loud comedy of manners, literary allusions galore, witty banter, steamy romantic chemistry and so much fun! Highly highly recommend for anyone who enjoys historical romantic comedy with a piratic adventurous twist!

I thought I was heading towards a reading slump, but... well, I was saved. This series, this book—I can’t even begin to describe what went through my mind while reading it. It was funny, it was intriguing, and it was so easy to get through. I thought the prequel was good (still do, by the way), but this one topped it somehow. The same particularly witty writing remained, which was awe-inspiring, and the storyline was simple enough to follow but, as I said, interesting as hell. And the characters... it was so good to see Cecilia and Ned again, but I have to admit I liked Charlotte's and Alex's dynamic a bit better. Anyway, in short, I flew through this book, and I loved every second.
