Another one thank you!
I was so excited to immediately start this after finishing the first book. The character mapping in the beginning feels similar and diverts as the plot continues. I feel like the pacing wasn’t perfect, and sometimes I wasn’t totally vibing with Alex’s shorthanded nature. I would have loved more emotional growth throughout! But I get that their thing was denial.
The plot was pretty interesting, but I think this is where the pacing issue comes in. There was a lot to expand on and introduce and I enjoyed how the life built off the first book.
I loved Charlotte discovering her love for adventure!!!! 😭 when the wind whips through her hair, when the magic makes her feel ALIVE, it was delight to read.
I have the next book cued up and I’m so excited for Bixby’s story!!!! He’s so different from Ned and Alex!!! And Alice is a mystery I’m ready to uncover!!

This series has stolen my heart, but I can say the sequel didn't draw me in quite as much as the first. Looking forward to the next installment.
I do so love these books. They’re ridiculous and silly and perfect. I laughed and smiled so much my cheeks hurt.
4 stars (I enjoyed it a lot). India Holton's Dangerous Damsel's series is more vibes than plot, but I really like the really specific historical British romcom vibes of the whole series. I didn't like this book as much as the first one, but I still enjoyed the enemies to lovers storyline of the pirate vs. witch rivalry. I loved the characterization of both the FMC and MMC as competent heroes.
