4 stars (I enjoyed it a lot). India Holton's Dangerous Damsel's series is more vibes than plot, but I really like the really specific historical British romcom vibes of the whole series. I didn't like this book as much as the first one, but I still enjoyed the enemies to lovers storyline of the pirate vs. witch rivalry. I loved the characterization of both the FMC and MMC as competent heroes.
Audiobook review:
Single British female narrator. 5 out of 5 (Enhances the reading experience) - As an American, hearing the extreme Britishness of the narrator's performance really elevated the experience for me.

Charlotte and Alex are the epitome of the reverse fake dating trope and I love that for them. I love treasure hunts in books so this was so much fun combined with Jane Austen references, an introverted main character, unlike friendships and wonderful banter? What more could you want in a book?

This was just as charming and delightful as the first book. I had so much fun reading it and am stoked to read book three next.
I just wish it hadn't been so thoroughly overflowing with Jane Austen references — I'm sure if you're familiar with her work it adds to the experience but as someone who's never read anything by her, it did take away from the story a bit.
