so so good, one of the best fantasy books i've read. Despite it being very violent i really enjoyed reading this book and there was never a boring moment.

I just finished this and I am at a lost for words...but I don't think it's in a good way.
I loved the writing, the plot, the ideas.
But I think there was not one character that I actually liked. I wanted to love Elias but I don't. I want to like Laia, but there's something about her that makes me not like her. Helene is one of the most annoying people in the world(I hate her).

If I had to pick the best character, in my opinion, I have to say the Commander even though I hate her. There was something about he that felt real and unforced like the other characters. Yes she is an evil villain but at least she seemed complex and real unlike the other characters. So yup, I enjoyed her character the most...and well that's just sad.

I guess I enjoyed the book, but I am disappointed. I can fully say that I do not understand all of the hype regarding this novel.

However, I do plan on reading the sequel and I *hope* the characters get better.

Gosh, I am so conflicted about this.
I don't hate it but I don't love it either.

Incredible....

I finished this book simply astonished... it was a slow burn that ended in an explosion! It was haunting, evocative, vibrant, cold, warm, hopeless, hopeful, and everything in between.

Loved this book! It has the feel of Game of Thrones and A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers (which I realize is an odd way to describe it) all while retaining its own unique storyline and world building. In short I can't wait to read the next book.
