Rosie and Alex are destined for one another, and everyone seems to know it but them. Best friends since childhood, their relationship gets closer by the day, until Alex gets the news that his family is leaving Dublin and moving to Boston. At 17, Rosie and Alex have just started to see each other in a more romantic light. Devastated, the two make plans for Rosie to apply to colleges in the U.S.

She gets into Boston University, Alex gets into Harvard, and everything is falling into place, when on the eve of her departure, Rosie gets news that will change their lives forever: She's pregnant by a boy she'd gone out with while on the rebound from Alex.

Her dreams for college, Alex, and a glamorous career dashed, Rosie stays in Dublin to become a single mother, while Alex pursues a medical career and a new love in Boston. But destiny is a funny thing, and in this novel, structured as a series of clever e-mails, letters, notes, and a trail of missed opportunities, Alex and Rosie find out that fate isn't done with them yet.

An easy read although it became irritating after a while. I enjoyed the witty repartee and the idea of the letters forming the book was good albeit completely unrealistic.

I liked the story but I wasn't keen on the format at times. There's a lot of e-mailing and instant messaging in this book and it wasn't as interesting to read all of those parts

2.5/5 Stars. Although there were parts of this book I loved the stupid mistakes the main characters repeated made me frustrated and other points of the book felt like a chore to read.

This book took some getting used to, because it is written almost entirely through texts, emails, and letters between many different characters. I wish there had been dates, or even just years, given with those items, because especially in the beginning, there were significant time jumps. I found the first half of the book to be a bit drawn out, and was happy to see the second half pick up the pace. It's an enjoyable, quick read

“You deserve someone who loves you with every single beat of his heart, someone who thinks about you constantly, someone who spends every minute of every day just wondering what you're doing, where you are, who you're with and if you're OK”

this book has become one of my favourite books of all time. rosie and alex have my absolute heart and i was rooting for them from their first introduction. i love love loved this novel, it was so beautifully written, the story captivated me in every way. i adored the writing style and finished it in a few days, these are the sort of wholesome, heart wrenching and painful books i long for!!! i need more of these asap!

alex stewart you are the one. i love you with all i am and you are the angel of all angels. he is the sweetest man and most amazing best friend that rosie could have had and i love their entire relationship to pieces. i adore katie, she made me laugh so much, especially when talking about whatshisname! and TOBY <3 lil baby cakes he is the cutest!

i adored rosie as a fmc. she is so strong and resilient, her mindset at most times was so admirable that it just made my heart grow 387383 sizes for her. i loved the constant reminders of her birthdays and how time was moving so fast, like real life. the entire book hit so hard and felt so real, as if i was reading about two real people, who i connected with on another level to previous book characters! i just always wanted things to work out for them, so mostly i felt very aggravated but in the best way possible!

this is definitely one of my fave books of all time now and i will never look back!!

I'm shaking my head because I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I don't dislike it. I don't love it. You know how it's going to end, which is fine. But dang, it takes a long time to get to it. Plus, there are aspects of the ending that have me rolling my eyes even though I knew the ending from the very first page. It's a quick, mindless read, perfect for the beach.

"Life is funny, isn't it? Just when you think you've got it all figured out, just when you finally begin to plan something, get excited about it and feel like you know what direction you're heading in, the paths change, the signs change, the wind blows the other way, north is suddenly south, and east is west and you're lost."

"Life is hard - so what? It's hard for everyone isn't it? Anyone who says it's easy is a liar."

Reread. Still loved it second time around!
