Amor Towles

Am reading this because the law girls of twitter really liked it. And why not add a 6th book to the mix? Holy wow. The girls were right.

Amor Towles is always a brilliant writer, but this is my least favorite of his books.  The story felt a bit pointless and I didn’t really like any of the characters.  Even the lead protagonist, Katie Kontent, left me a bit cold.  It won’t stop me from reading other Amor Towles books, though.

I liked this significantly more than A Gentleman in Moscow. But I think historical fiction is just not my genre right now.
reflective sad medium-paced

Gatsby meets Mad Men in this slow burn of a novel. The writing is brilliant, which makes up for the lack of action. I really enjoy Amor Towles' style, although I think I preferred A Gentleman in Moscow more than this one. The symbolism of Katey Kontent's name will have me pondering for quite some time.
