Great Gatsby vibes but I liked this more. I really love Towles writing style, like at least once per chapter I would stop and think “wow, that’s just a great sentence”

this is a very character-driven plot which is definitely more my speed.

I’m excited to read the short story about eve in a table for two!

You would never guess that this is the author’s first novel. Witty dialogue and perfectly imperfect characters set in 1930s manhattan teeter back and forth between luxury and poverty, mundane life and the freedom that comes with the infinite possibilities of youth. The plot is there, but the characters’ development drive the novel more than anything else.

I enjoy Amor Towles’ books and his style. This was an intriguing story set in the late 30s with some interesting characters. I liked the perspective of Katey and her development throughout.
