Sparklingly entertaining novel about life in New York in the 1930s. Felt like watching an 1930s film at times and was great fun but the author's attempt at a female narrator wasn't wholly convincing. A very enjoyable if flawed read.

This isn't the best book I've read but not the worst either. It definitely took me a while to finish because there wasn't really any true plot. It was a story of a girl going through life in 1920s New York. And with any story about real life it was just a series of events that weren't necessarily working towards anything specific. I would describe this book as comforting, nice, safe.

It took me a couple tries on this one but I’m glad I stuck with it. I wound up attached to the characters. Loved the paper airplane chapter.

I hesitated to read this book for a long time. I read that it was about high-society in New York City of which I have absolutely no interest. I loved A Gentleman in Moscow so much that I decided to give it a go. Well, hat’s off to Amor Towles! His writing drew me in after just a few chapters and I absolutely adored this story. Quite an accomplishment — from 0 interest to 5-stars in 350 pages.
