This was so heartwarming and I feel like a better person for reading it. How can I not have ever read this before?

what an amazing important children book! glorious!
A gem, an underrated gem!

What a delightful story! My daughters gave it 3.5 and 5 stars, both enjoying the story and even my son finally decided it was a good story once he actually started listening to it.

I myself really enjoyed reading about the adventures of little Betsy realizing she was actually much more capable than she ever thought.

Just finished this for the second time. The first read was when Caleb was in 4th grade. This time we all read it together (even Marc). I love it as much as I remember.

The main character has grown up pampered and coddled her whole life, and because of an emergency health situation she is sent to be with the (horrors) Putney cousins in VT. There Betsy comes alive and learns to think because the adults she is with expects her to be able to do and think for herself. It is even more lovely than watching a butterfly's first flight.

Such a sweet story!! My 6 & 8 year olds loved it as well as myself.

This was such a fantastic book! While my youngest two really enjoyed it (we read it for school), I feel like it impacted me even more than it did them. There were so many great truths for parents/caregivers as well as for kids.

I read this aloud to my 11 year old and we both loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was charming and it was fun to see Betsy transform and learn life lessons. I liked reading it with Gabe and hearing his take on it. I think I need to live a year on the Putney farm too.
