An entertaining Volume 3 expanding the world with new characters, the world-building developing at a slow pace. Erin still isn't my favourite perspective to read as she falls under the character trope of annoying with good character moments in between. Ryoka when showing us the perspective of this world and history does fall under my favourite of both main characters, but she does some things which grate my gears as well. Fleshing out the supporting characters like Lyonette, Pisces, Ceria, and Rags and giving us much more depth to each of their perspectives is perfect this time around. Very eager to delve deeper into this world and many more character perspectives.

A multitude of reasons for why I stopped reading (didn't like the main characters of the story, burnout from reading too much of it in a pretty short amount of time, story developing in a different direction than I was looking forward to:
the story got a lot more different perspectives and plotlines without a to me apparent connection to each other and I didn't enjoy that part
), but what pushed me to the DNF was a significant lack in the killing of
Goblins. I was already quite upset about how Erin defended those goblins even after they killed one of her few friends (but of course he came back, so it's fine, right? -_-) in book one, and then eventually I got to this scene where some Cannibal thinks "maybe us humans are the real monsters" in book three after goblins raided a city and left the survivors alive in it's ruins and it felt to me like the author was pushing a "goblins not so bad" narrative down my throat and I didn't really like that, so I DNFed. I was probably reading too much into that, but I got fed up and then didn't come back to the story later
.

This is a story about a human. Her name was Hannah. She found the third volume of The Wandering Inn to be quite gory, grotesque and rather disturbing. So much killing. So much blood. And, by far worst of all… so much cannibalism. Yuck. I don’t ever want to read about that particular subject again.

This volume was fine until the “monster” started showing up. Then I was just totally grossed out for several chapters (and the chapters are loooong!). The goblins also aren’t incredibly hygienic. I’ve never been a fan of the undead/zombie trope either; not at all. So while it was partly a good continuation of the world and its story, this volume wasn’t for me. Hopefully the next one will be less gory or else I might have to drop the series. Now back to the charm of the first couple volumes, I hope?

Insufferable characters. I'm dropping this series.

This book is well written but at times seems disjointed. Parts of it seemed like you were reading a novella within the main world. While a lot is happening in the world, it does not seem like the story moves forward very much.

This is my easy bed time audiobook series.
I am still really enjoying it, and will buy the next one right away.

It's grown a lot darker since the first book, but as much as I live it for its quick and light tone, I feel it sometimes doest strike the balance between the dark and light places too well. It just goes from "everything is horrible and awful" to "yay" in the space of a minute and that at times throws me out of the story a bit.

Regardless of that I still really enjoy the characters and the different directions they take and choices they make.
I love how easy to sink into the world is. I enjoy spending my time in the Inn and exploring a bit more of the world. Though some characters seem to fall in and out of the story willy nilly.

It's really engaging and entertaining and I can't see myself growing bored of it anytime soon.
