Wrażenia: Zachwycałam się już w notce z poprzedniego tomu, więc się nie będę powtarzać. Czemu nie piątka? Tom drugi najbardziej mnie poruszył, a końcówka trylogii nie miała aż takiej mocy.
Dla kogo: Póki co jest to najlepsza książka (trylogia) fantasy, jaką miałam przyjemność czytać w 2021 roku.

Even if this series is far from perfectly refined, this third book is truly the most fitting end to Rin's story.
The absolutely in-your-face paralells to real life history, the suffering and persevierence of a country torn apart by war and famine, hit you so hard if you have studied any kind of East Asian history in depth. The specific despair of countries that had their entire existence threatened not only through a newly risen power in their own realm (Japan), but also through the looming outside threat of The West™ and the steamrolling force of industrialization, capital and the western war machine, cannot be properly conveyed unless you have either a direct link to these events or have studied them extensively (and it really shows that R. F. Kuang has both).
While the second book already started to touch on the horrors of civil war, the hopelessness comes to it's peak throughout this last stretch.
Rin is such a unique protagonist in that she is driven by vengance until her last breath. She develops into this symbol of the resistance, first against Daji, then against Vaisra, and finally against the Hesperians, but ultimately fails to rally people behind her because she is so blinded by her own vengance that she cannot see the suffering of the common people. She cannot be their salvation, because vengance cannot keep people alive.
Just as the conclusion of the book states: Do what it takes to survive. Persevere and protect your people, because people are culture and culture is identity. Hold on until the time is right to stand on your own feet again, until you can crawl out of the shadow of the oppressors and your people can reclaim their freedom and identity. This is how so many colonized and occupied cultures have survived. And it is heartbreaking and refreshing in one so see such a conclusion portrayed in a major book series, which deserved all the praises it got.b

Почну з того, що мені сподобалась. Справді було цікаво. 3-я частина насичена подіями. Жинь, на решті, перестала пасивно пливти за течією, вона вчиться приймати рішення і має мету. Її характер все більше й більше розвивається і формується, під кінець це антигерой з протікаючим дахом. Також, маємо історію тріади, які інтригували нас з самого початку - найкраща частина сюжету, як на мене.
Про мінуси - їх чесно, не так багато, як може здатися, але у мене сильно палає від самого їхнього існування. І хоча, на мою думку, Полумʼяний Бог сюжетно цікавіший за Респуліку Дракона, тут забагато подій а-ля Санта Барбара (все ще цікаво, але занадто очевидно). Це те що мене дратувало впродовж усієї серії. Ось Жинь врятували лідери півдня, але, оце так несподіванка, її ні в що не ставлять; ось Жинь спромоглася отримати пару тисяч військових і пішла бити мугенців, але, оце так несподіванка, її зраджують і продають Республіці; ось Дзян вийшов із свого заточення більш-менш адекватний і знищує дирижаблі на право і на ліво, але, ось це так несподіванка, він раптово стає недієздатним і впадає періодично в істерику. І так вся книга.
Як я вже писала у відгуку на Республіку Дракона, у мене часто є враження що не персонажі рухають сюжет. А автор підтасовує сюжет так, щоб рухати персонажів у заданому напрямку. Або інше, нам по декілька разів ПОВТОРЮЮТЬ одне і те саме.
Ще є певна кількість сцен де присутня драма заради драми. Я в якийсь момент очікувала, що Ребекка Кван, в найкращих традиціях мильних опер скаже що Жинь чиясь там давно загублена донька, чи щось таке, тим паче що там були на це натяки (майже прямим текстом сказали) А що, амнезія свого роду вже була. Просто була б ще одна «ось це так несподіванка»…
Кінцівка мене неймовірно порадувала, хоча під кінець я сильно втомилася від цього 3,14здеца. Вибачте за мову, але інакше цей цирк не назвати.
Впродовж всієї книги були моменти, де я не могла відірватися (в основному 2 частина), а бувало, читала по діагоналі.
Я б охарактеризувала всю серію як маст-рід.
