Kept calling her the “baby sister” but she was 30 years old… that is a grown woman.
Idk I get where he was coming from, the fear of repeating his dad’s steps, but he definitely wasn’t “bad boy” material. Also, I just didn’t feel a spark between the two. They were both just kinda there

The main characters of this book are by far my favorite of the series. Jen is the good girl and Abel is the bad boy. What they bring out in each other makes your heart melt. They decide to enter into an agreement because of concern things and boy, it comes out for the better. I was teary eyed by the time i was done. Loved this series
emotional
funny
hopeful
medium-paced
I think this book was my favorite in the series, followed closely by the IWIKT.
I always admired Jen, but seeing her front and center, getting her inner thoughts and feelings? That made her my favorite FMC in this series. There were a lot of things I could relate to, like the tendency to want to please others and having to learn that it’s okay to go after what pleases yourself once in a while.
I couldn’t help but fall for Abel. His backstory really added to his character, and made him more than just Jen’s love interest, not that Jessica has ever struggled with giving her MMCs personalities. Abel and Jen had such palpable chemistry that I rooted for them from start to finish.
This network of characters has really grown on me. I’m going to miss them.

Hands down my favorite of the series, and I loved this series.
This had all the things I like about marriage of convenience, which usually includes two characters that have been pining after each other, along with forced proximity due to Jen moving into Abel's beautiful home. Their time living together gave them a chance to explore their chemistry and finally cross that line from friends to lovers. Jen and Abel brought out the best in each other. Jen helped Abel realize that he is capable of love and family, despite how he grew up. Abel helped Jen break free of her inner people pleaser trait, allowing her to feel comfortable in her own skin and ask for what she wanted.
If you want a sweet, lil spicy contemporary romance, this author's books fit the bill. They are quick reads but, like Jen and Abel's story, still have enough depth to keep me interested. I can't wait to see what the author does with her next series!

Peterson turns heartache into something beautiful. A stepping stone on the pathway to happily ever after. I Wish We Had Forever brings the unpredictability of life and the heartbreak of love. Abel and Jen give emotions a crash course in courage. From the painful to the inspiring, the Harbour Village series is romance at it's most captivating. Temptation at it's most divine.
This just might be my favorite from the series. Somehow I find myself saying that after each book!
Jen and Abel are the good girl bad boy who had feelings for each other for years but never acted on it. They both felt unworthy of the other and plus Jen's brother Tuck is Abel's best friend so their relationship was very forbidden. But when a health issue with Jens father has Jen and Abel wanting to make him happy and show that they can be happy. They pretend to be married.
Pretending doesn't last long and the spice heats up to boiling. This might have been the spiciest I have read from Jessica. Some moments were jaw dropping holy hotness kinda things.
I enjoyed watching Jen gain her confidence and ask for what she wants and not just do what others say. And Abel had to learn to soften his hard heart. Abel had strong fears about him becoming his father. I loved seeing him seek out Jens dad for advice.

Why are all the damaged men so hot?!?!?
Jen and Abel are childhood friends in small town North Carolina. Abel had a shoddy upbringing and was taken in by Jen's family since he and Tuck, Jen's brother were practically inseperable.
Jen comes back to visit, as her dad needed to speak to her and tells her tha he has cancer. He lets her know its early and treatable but he lets her know his wishes were that he see her settled down and happy. Shortly after, he has the same conversation with Abel. Abel decides that the one way to make him happy is for him and Jen to fake a marriage so that if on the off chance something happens to him, at least he got to see two of the important people in his life happy.
Abel is the town "playboy" reportedly sleeping with married women of the houses he works in as a contractor and Jen is the good girl who's had a crush on him for years, not knowing that he may feel the same.
Jen moves into Abel's house which is essentially hidden in the woods with her two dogs "Cher and Tai" (we STAN a Clueless reference), two dogs who also IMMEDIATELY become obsessed with Abel.
The two decide to wait to tell Joe and Tuck until after Tucks wife give birth because they're under more than enough stress already. But word gets back to Tuck after the two are seen out on a few dates.
There's a TON of wil they wont they, more from Abel because due to his upbringing he feels he's incapable and undeserving of love and happiness. Which after spending time with Jen and speaking with Joe he understands that he's NOT his father and that he deserves all the greatness, love and happiness that comes to him.
Although Tuck was super upset after finding out the two of them had gotten "married" he finally comes around after Joe reminds Abel of all the "nice things" he's done for Jen over the years, he proceeds to show Abel a box of memories of stuff he's done to show just how important he was to her.
The two of them realize that their "fake marriage" comes with real feelings and those real feelings have been there for a LONG time!
This is definitely a 5 star book for me and let me just tell you the spice.....it DEFINITELY spices in this book!
