I'm really enjoyed the story of Julia's coming of age. However, it is set against a background of global disaster, which, in this age of climate crisis, is a bit scary. It's well worth a read though.

I couldn't put this book down! Thoroughly, LOVED it!!!

I liked the premise of the book, the slowing of the Earth's rotation, but that's just a plot device. After finishing the book I still can't figure out what the plot was. I liked the language in the book, but I need more than pretty words and phrases. I think the concept could have driven a lovely short story, but in the form it is now I'm just left wondering why I spent my time reading the book.

The premise of the book is that the earth's rotation slows and all sorts of catastrophes ensue. The premise was really interesting, and I liked that it's told from the perspective of an eleven-year-old girl. I especially liked that it was a retrospective, so we got glimpses of what will happen in her future.
It's a sad book with a lot of unsolved mysteries. May not be everyone's cup of tea...especially right now, but I enjoyed it.

Very well written and engaging. However, I kept waiting for something big to happen or to get some answers about the slowing but neither ever came.

A coming of age novel set in an interesting premise that could have been explored more in depth. That being said, the protagonist wasn't overly insecure in that annoying way that YA dystopian ones can come across. Character development could be improved and plot points would benefit from being expanded. Overall a fast and entertaining read while staying relatively scientifically accurate.

If I could, I'd give this one 4.5 stars. Really liked it a lot.

"Luminous, haunting" as goodreads.com describes it, are great words to describe this book. The writing is beautiful, the premise is scary, the characters flawed but lovable, humanity itself, flawed but worth loving. This book reminded me of Carla Buckley's The Things That Keep Us Here for its take on something hugely terrifying that is not implausible and its affects on one person/family .

I really, really liked this book but I hated the ending (hence the four stars instead of five). The author just kind of ended the book, there was no closure whatsoever. I feel like she didn't know how to end it so she stopped writing. But other than that, the book was excellent - interesting concept.
