I love a good Apocalypse.

This was thin and a little twee after https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6931246-kraken but I read it and there it is.

This happened to be the first audio book I've ever listened to (tip of my hat to the everlovely Emily Janice Card), and I was unexpectedly drawn in. All the angst of sixth grade in California, as the world is coming to a very slow end. Feelings! So many feelings for this little girl!

...I don't understand.

I read this in one sitting. I loved it but I think there were a lot of themes that could have been explored more deeply. I'm really excited to see what this author writes next!

Good writing, very thoughtful characters and situations. But, there's only one mood and one speed, and those are melancholy and slow.

Lovely, sparse writing. Not my typical genre (sci-fi, end-of-world), but I found the coming-of-age narrator to be entirely compelling. The descriptions of time and light were memorable but, woah, this book is depressing.
