Okay so I was going to skip this but omg I’m so glad I didn’t. I honestly enjoyed this one more than most of the series and I thought her sisters book was it! It is but I’m loving this more….? I mean the step sibling thing…. Ah well..

I loved that the FMC didn’t look for drama. No weird sabotage, no “I’m pushing you away because I have I’m immature and cat communicate” or “I’m gonna run away because I feel a feeling" nonsense every five pages. She wasn’t dumb and didn’t run from every emotional moment. Her inner monologues were so reasonable, not too long, not too much, and when she was in her head, it actually made sense. I can’t tell you how refreshing that was.

Massimo was such a great character; smart, calculating, intense and I loved that he had a disability but it wasn’t made into some weird overdone “thing.” He’s intense, powerful, protective, but never emotionally stunted or cruel just to be “alpha.“ She just accepted him, no fuss, no forced emotional scenes about it. Their connection felt so natural.

I also loved how it didn’t feel rushed even though it had short chapters. The pacing was smooth, the tension built gradually, and there was no annoying miscommunication dragging out the plot, No unnecessary drama, just two people actually choosing each other even when things are messy.
It gave what it needed to give…

I liked this book a lot more than I thought would! I loved Zahara coming into her own with Massimos help.

A brief psychological analysis:
I believe that Massimo's fixation on Zara originates from his guilt for not being able to save Elmo, which led him to choose another stepsibling to protect. And zara fell in love with him because he is the only man who has ever shown her even the smallest amount of interest and has been in her life since she was a child.

once the couples actually get together I just lose any and all interest.

Massimo is cunning
Massimo is ambitious
Massimo is the devil
Massimo is selfish
But....
Massimo is also....cute
Massimo is also....selfless
Massimo is also....considerate
Massimo is also ready to give up everything he's worked nearly 2 decades for.
Only for his angel, his Zahara.
This was a pure love story between two damaged half souls who didn't know they needed eachother to complete their lives. I loved how Massimo almost never commented on Zara's vitiligo but silently supported her through her journey of self-love and confidence. He is a kitten in disguise of a big bad wolf...well he really is bad and the devil to everyone BUT Zahara. I loves how she had a calming effect on him and just the mere thought of hers or mere presence were enough to keep Massimo sane. Also what took me by surprise was Massimo's "second" personality LMAOOOO everytime he would talk to himself I would have to control my laughter because those conversations were hilarious

As much as I devoured this book I hated it too just tolerating it book I enjoyed this series since it’s catchy just hating reading teens pov especially in this type of book
