I really liked it. However, I should not have read it while I was pretty stressed because this book was not relaxing. I get that Maddie wanted to be independent, but blind in a zombie apocalypse. Crazy…
Someone on booktok said that this book was poorly written because of the use of AI to create the cover. This is not a valid reason not to read this book. This book was really well written and the characters were well developed. I liked how the relationship was developed. It was a slow burn, but not an annoying one. The build-up was good and there was always some tension. Maddie was also such a sweetheart, and the protectiveness that Saff felt for her.
There are just two questions that I still have:
What happened to Saff’s asthma? It was such a huge plot point in the beginning of the books, but then it kind of fell away.
What does the title mean? Is “hearing” because Maddie is blind or? And then what does “red” mean? Is it because blood och danger is red?

Omg five stars. FIVE FKING STARS. I don’t do zombies and I don’t love slow burn but I love love love this book. And the poem at the end? Absolutely shredded me. A++ Maser, I’ll take more.
Love in a zombie world
I always love a good love story like this one between Saff and Maddie. It is so heartwarming to see how they fall in love despite the really tough times they have to even survive. The story is happening in a world where the zombies have taken over and how that changes the world and how people act. This makes the story so much better thanks to the extra action and hardship to get through it all to finally try to get to a place where it is possible to live a more normal life together.

Really enjoyed this book. I found both characters really interesting and their development was nice. The premise is interesting and when the chapters switched the character perspectives it was amazing how the author managed to create intrigue and introduce things that we didn't know about the characters. Plot was a standard apocalypse zombie plot, with some added hardships with one character being blind and the other asthmatic
