This was surprisingly good. I actually really liked the characters, and there weren't really any plot holes that I could find. My only problem was that I swear I figured out that Bianca was behind everything after like five chapters. But I did genuinely enjoy reading this, and I got through it pretty quickly. Very fun.
Graphic: Sexual content, Toxic friendship
A perfect example of "good plot, bad execution". This is my first book of Nadia Lee and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
I really liked the beginning of the story with Sebastian being forced to marry Lucienne because she has to get married in order to secure her position as the CEO of her jewellery brand. I anticipated alot of angst after the marriage but they are attracted to each other and start having sex from day one...which is fine. The family drama thats surrounds both characters is interesting, the scandals about Lucienne, Sebastian's ex-girlfriend stuff was okay too but everything bad that happens to them is EXTERNAL. None of what they're doing to each other is hurtful instead they start developing feelings for each other quite soon.
Also, Sebastian has asked his brothers to buy shares in Lucienne's company so that he can strip her of her CEO position as a revenge because he's still mad about her forcing him into marriage (but we don't actually see him being mad or even upset about it, we're just told he is still not okay with it). Now this is very integral to the plot since Lucienne has been betrayed and undermined by everyone around her all her life and she's very insecure, Sebastian knows it all but doesn't feel any guilt about doing this even though she's put all her trust in him. Infact, the part about him plotting against her is NOT mentioned again in the book until just a day before the stakeholders meeting when she, as expected, finds out what he did and is voted no longer the CEO of her own company.
The author introduced and forgot about the whole thing which should have been focused alot about since its their "big betrayal" but it was really weird to see how it doesn't even effect Lucienne that much. She has had to prove herself to others all her life and being a worthy CEO is her biggest goal but she just accepts what Sebastian did and asks him to leave as if he didn't destroy all her dreams. Sebastian also does not feel guilty enough and the "grovelling" is also not nearly enough. Only a week after she asked him to leave, he asks her to meet him and she goes like everything's normal. Then he asks to take her out on three dates and she just accepts without any reluctance as if he didn't ruin her dream and chance to prove that she's worthy. Her being betrayed by everyone was focused alot in the book but she does not even act slightly mad or atleast upset about Sebastian's betrayal even though this should have been the one that hurt her the most. He sues the people who hurt and betrayed her but there's no punishment for him. She should've atleast verbally fought with him but instead forgives him so easily....it was so so stupid. Their first meeting in Paris is mentioned only once again but it doesn't serve as anything important.
Overall, the plot and characters had alot of wasted potential and could've been done much much better. This is why authors need to focus more on writing aspects and execution of the story other than just adding a bunch of "my wife" phrases and famous tropes.

Sebastian and Luce
Talk about being destined. I love all the Lasker brothers stories. Each standa out to me and holds a piece of my heart in its own way. Not sure how to word it to not give away anything so I'll say again.... "Talk about being destined".
*Off to get a nice cup of hot chocolate*
