this is one I had started a few times and not gotten into, but once I got into it, this main character was unlikable in a way that I saw myself in SO much like this did a great job of characterizing some of the grumpiest, most depressed and irritable parts of my brain
dark funny fast-paced

“She was no longer in the part of life where things changed. Her actions from here on out would carry more permanence, could no longer be easily swapped out for something new. Realizing this, she felt panic, deep and wide and boundless, and then she felt release.”

This book didn’t have much that stood out to me, but there were parts where I felt seen.

I don't think Butler's voice sings as well in a first person narrative, kind of a shame this is her most well known book.

Nevertheless, the unique, "office job as existential hell" style is still as hypnotic as ever.

Deep inside, this is so sad because it reflects how lots of people in our today’s society are struggling through life like this.
