“Don’t make your presence known. Make your absence felt.”
“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.”
Colleen Hoover can write anything and I will love it.
Her first foray into YA was a hit.

Okay. This was something I wasn't expecting. That's why I only gave it 4.5 stars and not 5 as any other novel I came across that was written by Colleen Hoover because; believe me I'd blindly go and read anything that she wrote.
There was something missing. This was slowly built until it collapse at some point (climax) but it didn't shocked me when it did, surprisingly. Ihave to say that I was expecting that-maybe- I mean I was hoping to witness that cataclysmic moment, the turning point that no one saw coming. Instead this was the exact opposite.
Anyway the message as always makes you think and reflect. I love the realistic approach that she applies, always. She 'dares' to talk about those subjects that everyone avoids talking about in a way that always leaves you thinking twice and gives you another perspective about the issue itself. (perspective something that was mentioned in the book)
Oh, dear! The characters! Yep, she always nails it. The plot: twisted but once again perspective changes things. She's always with a quote/message teaching me something. I love that about her novels.
Recommended!!

Abandoned it without finishing… first time I’ve abandoned a Hoover, but I just wasn’t feeling it.
I love CoHo, but this one was a struggle. I feel this is a great YA book, rather than adult. I just couldn’t relate to Merit, and the family dynamics were confusing and shallow. There could have been so much more depth to the situation.

I liked it, but didn't love it. One thing I can say about this author is that she doesn't just write the same story over and again. I liked the family dynamics, the history and secrets, but Merit was my least favorite part.
