I was told this one was one of her earlier books. I was also told it is not as awesome as her most recent books.

Based off of that I still don’t really know how I feel about this book.

It wasn’t bad…but it also wasn’t my favorite.

I definitely read it pretty quickly. And it was also fast paced, but for some reason I felt like the end was rushed through a bit.

Plus there was all the back and forth between Sagan and Merit. And then the confusion of the relationship and therapy aspect.

I did think the message that was portrayed in the novel was good though!

I love how Colleen tackles tough subjects about difficult families. Another good one!

"'It annoys me when people try to convince other people that their anger or stress isn't warranted if someone else in the world is worse off than them. It's bullshit. Your emotions and reactions are valid, Merit. Don't let anyone tell you any different. You're the only one who feels them.'"

I have tried a couple of Colleen Hoover's books, and I just found I had no desire to read about spoiled, immature, over-emotional teenagers. I was very leery about this book, but it's Goodreads top voted in the romance section, so I tried it. I fell in love with Merit and her family in the first chapter and I couldn't put it down. Probably because I absolutely love weird, crazy, quirky, and just overall imperfect characters. There were so many issues dealt with in this book and those issues did require me to put reality aside in a few places... so maybe not a full 5 star review, more like 4.5. I also probably wouldn't classify it as a romance, it reminds me more of a general fiction book.

Idk why y’all keep lying on tiktok. I was 73% of the way through this book before I gave up. And I had to wait like 10 weeks for the hold to release! Everyone in that family is nasty and honestly merit isn’t a good person either. They are fucking family members and stealing sisters boyfriends not boyfriends. It’s wild and there was no redeeming character

I didn't except the book to go this way but it was still a great reading; super easy to go through!
I LOVED the fact that CoHo talked about some topics (besides the main plot) that i found super important, specially with what's happening in the world nowadays; i actually felt represented and i couldn't take away my smile and not talk and share about it.

I'm obvisously talking about one of the MC's past! I really appreciate that Colleen introduced this theme and in such way. It just makes you love the author even more! :)

So thank you for that Colleen!

The structure of the book doesn't follow her usual books, so it was a surprise, but still it was a good read. I just wished we could connect and have more of the characters.
