3.5 stars. I struggle with how to rate this because there are some things I really loved about it: the setting, Merit’s house, her family situation. Everything happening in the first half of this book borders on absurd, and I was just rolling with it because it was funny how ridiculous it was and seemed intentional. And then around halfway when the big serious thing (no spoilers) involving Merit’s letter happens, the whole book got serious. And I just couldn’t take the absurdity seriously. There were a lot of misunderstandings between the characters. And the dog thing at the end? Did not ring true for me. I will remember Merit for a while but this story was so chaotic.
It really shows you how teenagers feel during there years for sure!! Slow at first but picked up!

I really enjoyed this book and read it really quick. It was very pacey. It is the first Colleen Hoover book I've ranked less than a five. The reason for this, I guess, is that although the story and plot was engaging, I found some of it a bit far fetched and hard to believe.

Holy hell!! An amazing book that I could not stop listening to (I did the audiobook version). Colleen Hoover gets me every time. The different topics that are presented in this book are eye opening and will give you all the feels. Loved it from start to finish and would highly recommend it!
Was it my favorite CoHo book? No. Did I still finish it in just a few days? Yes. There were a lot of heavy subjects in this book and I don’t think all were dealt with in the best manner BUT overall, it kept me tuned in and wanting to know how it all ended. Truthfully, this one made me overwhelmingly sad because of how much could change if families were just HONEST with each other. It just reinforced how much I value my openness and vulnerability with my own kids so they feel safe enough to share the same with me. Overall, I enjoyed this one but I can’t deny that there are many others by CoHo that I loved much more.
