This was kind of a mess but I still enjoyed it, I think (?)

I was torn between 3 or 4 stars, but I’ll keep it like this, since it was addicting as always, but it’s definitely not Coleen’s best book.

I sort of felt as if there was something missing? Like, as if there wasn’t an actual story to the book? Not sure. Still think it’s a nice book that gives a good and, personally speaking, accurate perspective on a topic as important as mental health.

This book had some good moments to it. I’m not one to fear triggers but if drugs, anxiety, depression are triggers, this isn’t for you. Some parts were gripping and some parts i thought were very YA. But overall, I like how Colleen Hoover writes about real topics that people go through. Overall, decent read!

Three most important things from this book:

1. No matter how hard you try, things don't always turn out they way you want

2. Your emotions and reactions are valid. Dont let others tell you otherwise. On the side note, don't judge how others react to one thing. We all have different level of stress

3. Last but not least: not every mistakes deserve a consequences. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is a forgiveness

I thank God i found this and chose to read it as my first book to start 2018.

I love CoHo, but there was SO MUCH going on in this book that it actually felt like it was trying to be too many things.
Don’t get me wrong— I still liked it, and it is definitely heart-wrenching and a beautifully written story! I just feel like it could’ve been focused on fewer issues or even split into two books with the multitude of deep issues going on.

I really enjoyed this one! for me, it was the type of book that had me invested from the very first page. it is by no means a perfect book. I do think, however, that you need to take it for what it is. it is incredibly strange, bizarre, & problematic. the characters that make up the voss family (as well as the supporting characters) are so dysfunctional & chaotic, sometimes even unlikable.

please know going in that there are a lot of moving parts to the book. I think that is one of the things that I liked the most about it; I was intrigued and wanted to know more the entire time. It was never boring. I felt like I knew all of the characters extremely well despite the element of mystery & the secrets that were being held by every single one of them.

there is one character in this book whom I absolutely adored (luck..yep a coho name for sure lol) because he was completely ridiculous but so incredibly funny and I really think he brought so much to the table when he entered into this family!

I liked the mental health representation within the book and that the concept of GOING TO THERAPY was actually woven into this story (we all know that pretty much all of coho’s characters need therapy and that it doesn’t show up enough in her books!) I also really loved how this book ended. not everything was wrapped up in a perfect little bow with all problems solved. It would have been extremely unrealistic and my rating would have dropped if that were the case.

I did not like one really big thing that happened in the book and explaining would be a spoiler. I thought how this big thing went down was incredibly unrealistic. I hated merit’s attitude toward it after it happened and that the behavior wasn’t realized or rectified by her by the end of the book.

This book is very different from other books I usually read. This is a coming of age story following Merit. I like the idea of the dysfunctional family, but for some reason this story was just okay. Everything leads up to a big blow out, which was one of the only things that caught my attention. I did not like how easy it was for the resolution. I wish everything wasn’t okay as fast as it was. This book wasn’t for me, but it might be for you if you like coming of age novels.

“Don’t make your presence known. Make your absence felt.”

I loved everything about this book. It's much lighter than IEWU and much darker than Slammed (or any other). And the characters in this story! So unique, so powerful, so imaginative.

Perfection, really.

Why are all of Colleen Hoover's books so damn addictive?? I started this book right before midnight and here I am at 5am having just finished it. And of course I loved it.

Out of all of Colleen's characters, Merit has been the one I resonate with the most. Which is a little sad, but completely true.

I did enjoy Colleen adding in a bit of queer representation too.

This book was good, loved the ending, didn’t like the beginning. Idk how to explain.
