I was so excited to read this story so I was so disappointed when I finally did. I love the concept of this book but it was such a slow burn that I kept falling asleep. The world building was disappointing as was the character development. There were way to many side characters that I couldn't keep them straight. There is a duel timeline and both were slow burns that at times I forgot which timeline I was in. There wasn't even a spark during the sex scenes if you could call them that. More behind the closed bedroom scenes. Over all the story was hard to get into and felt flat except for the last 50ish last pages and they didn't even grab me enough for me to want to read the next book in the series. Regardless of the cliffhanger at the end of the book.

It was creepy and cool and kind of nice to see an average looking, plus sized, non-badass doing her do kind of badly but still make it out mostly ok. This felt a lot more real life than a lot of books with similar setups. The bad guy was truly gross. The love interest was hot but in no way perfect. It was, all in all, a much needed breath of fresh air in the paranormal genre.
