No Stone Unturned was a pleasant surprise for me. I had been a bit worried that it would be too heavy and scientific, but it really wasn't. Despite the difficult subject (in both senses of the word), Steve Jackson has written a book that is very easy to read. It actually reminded me a lot of just a regular novel in places, and the science is explained in a way that is easy to understand without being too simplistic.

The first part of the book is mostly about how NecroSearch came to be and the history of the organization and it was all quite interesting, but I think I preferred the later parts of the book where Jackson writes about a few cases that they have helped solve. I like that he doesn't just write about NecroSearch and their search for the body, he gives you a proper background to the case first, and then he continues after the body has been found so that you also get to find out what happened afterwards.

One of the most important aspects of this book, in my opinion, is both Jackson's and the organization's obvious respect and empathy for the victims and their families. The book does go into some detail about what happens to a body after death and such, but it is never forgotten or ignored that this was a real person, with thoughts and feelings and hopes for the future and people who loved them, and they lost their life under absolutely horrific circumstances.

SO interesting, a book I found myself hooked on, but definitely had to take breaks.

If you love true crime, then you are going to LOVE this book! I enjoyed reading through the different cases, as the techniques that were used to solve them. Many of the cases I was familiar with, but the background that was given, and the many different steps that were taken was truly eye-opening.

Highly recommend this read!

I just want to rave about this book. It has thoroughly pulled me in and shown me just how much interest I have in this topic. The author is very capable of drawing the reader in to experience the nature and work of Necrosearch. An incredible team, having this opportunity to see through their eyes is invaluable. The book goes into great detail about the cases that it profiles. And it does not focus singularly on the work of the team, but also on the emotional and physical challenges leading up to and after their work. It expresses motivation that the reader can share. It also does not press too hard on fine detail to the exclusion of the experience, as one might fear. Instead, it presents well-balanced, easily readable scenes that can pull you in before you realize it.

As this was an update to a previous edition, I just want to say I'm waiting eagerly for the next edition or additional stories.

Lots of neat information in this one. Kept me interested the whole time. I felt like it lacked something… cohesion? Not sure.
