This book had a really slow start for me, but once we reached Part 2, I was fully invested. I would probably rate this higher if it weren’t for how out of it I was at the beginning. I love elspeth and ravyn

I got into this immediately. Elspeth is a very likable character, and magic is fun in this universe. Romance was cute but did nothing for me. The best part of the book is Nightmare. All funny scenes belong to him. I will definitely read squal.

Holy moly that is a MAJOR cliffhanger!!
I went into this read blind and it’s everything I didn’t expect, but so deeply loved.

The world building and magic system is one of the more unique qualities to this tale and I really did love understanding it. I can’t wait to see book 2 build on the abilities and consequences of magic wielding in this universe.
I’m also super excited to see more characters “come out of their shells” (literally lol). I feel like a few more revelations in the relationships are still to be had, but I’m hoping to see more development from our fmc especially.

4.5 ✨ cause I demolished this in a day and will promptly be devouring the sequel.

It's slightly interesting, but the main character is a bit frustrating and I don't feel super connected to it. I may come back later.
