greek mythology meets YA adventure and double mmc yessss
I had really high hopes for this book based off the synopsis. The execution of the storyline fell a little short of the idea for the book. Decent read but nothing exceptional.

I thoroughly enjoyed this YA novel set in modern NYC. The way the story was woven with greek mythology really piqued my interest.
Since it only takes place over the course of a week it's rather difficult to see any real character development. But AB really does a good job in creating loveable and relatable protagonists in the first place. The ending felt a bit hurried and sloppy wrap up, which is why I deducted 1 star.

I definitely agree with the description: Percy Jackson meets The Hunger Games. I enjoyed the mythology aspect of this one. Unfortunately, what knocked off the last star for me was the rushed ending that was conveniently wrapped up and tied in a pretty bow. I could have done with at least another chapter... or book... But that's me just being greedy I suppose!
3.5 stars but not rounding up. This book has an amazing premise that will hook you and make you want to keep reading. Lore lives in NYC in a world that every 7 years the Gods are turned mortal and for one week they are hunted. If someone kills the mortal God then they become the new version of said God. I read this book in almost two days and I was invested in it but I was constantly confused. I thought throughout that it would be a four star read for me but then after I finished it I was left feeling unsatisfied. I am not a fantasy reader- I find it to be too confusing at times and I can not keep track of this or that. Lore definitely was not as bad as a lot of the fantasy books in terms of this but it was still confusing to me. The author has a list of characters in the back which was extremely helpful. For me there should also have been a glossary because I would have used that constantly. The world building is there but it was not well done and left me confused. My other issue with this book is that it entirely too long, it could have been EASILY 150 pages shorter. It is not a good feeling that the book is smarter than you. I definitely think this book would be a hit for the majority of people, so pick it up if it interests you.
