Saw the movie and enjoyed it so thought it was time to revisit the book. Enjoyed it!

3.5 stars
I enjoyed this quite a bit (except for the last 50 pages that became a bit too ridiculous and cheesy)
But all in all a cute and easy read and definitely better than other historical romance novels I have read in the past

Sweet, interesting G-rated love story

Because it was being made into a movie I think I had higher expectations for this book, but it was just ok for me. But I still totally plan to watch the movie!
I enjoyed the first half far more than the second. Lots of witty banter and I do really like Selina, but the second half dragged for me.

….yeah no the last half was weird. Julia is a bitch and I think it was supposed to be a parody but it did not work well

I really tried but... I just can't.

I watched the movie 4 times before reading the book! Of course not everything can be shown from the book but what was left out made sense. I think the movie did an excellent job in its portrayal of the book! As far as the book it was engaging and lighthearted! A few gripes I must add:

1. I felt the last “deception” plan that was Cassie’s idea was unnecessary and out of place. It made the story drag longer than it should.

2. I need to comment on Julia! She was such a spoilt brat! If I hadn’t watched the movie first I think I would have disliked her more. The movie made her more likable.

3. Mr. Malcolm’s arrogance and pride. When he was being so difficult it was very annoying but I liked his explanation/apology for his actions.

Overall, I highly recommend this book! A nice, soft romance! Super cute!
