A fun enough read, however the pacing of the second half was really off. At a certain point there were just too many schemes/ plots and they lost their luster.
Overall, it was short and pretty funny. Looking forward to watching the movie! (Theo James? yes pls)

I would rate this a solid 3.5 stars. The dialogue is great, and the characters are entertaining. My favorite is Selina, definitely the most sensible of the lot. I like Jeremy, tho he is so incredibly pigheaded at times you want to slap him. I rather liked his mother. My biggest reason for not giving this a 4 star read is the characterization of Selina's friend Julia. I felt that she should have been more fleshed out, more well rounded, as she comes off a spoiled brat for a good portion of the book, then suddenly shows herself capable of remorse. It was a bit jarring.
lighthearted
Poorly written and poorly developed. The storyline and characters have so much potential, so I hope the movie does a better job telling this story.
It was alright. I haven't read many period pieces but I know this isn't the best lol banter was okay I guess I hope the movie is better

I didn’t love this book, and I’m torn between 2 and 3 stars because Selina is a great protagonist and I really liked her a lot. She was smart and funny and had a backbone and didn’t put up with any bullshit.
Malcolm, on the other hand, IS THE WORST. He annoyed the shit out of me with his judgy, arrogant bullshit. His mom was a great character and I actually really liked her, so I wish she had been in more of the book so I wouldn’t have been so annoyed and rolling my eyes at this douchebag. I honestly think Selina could have done better, but whatever. Julia and Henry’s friendship etc. was super cute, but Julia also kind of sucks. She got better AT THE VERY END but I wanted to scream for 90% of the book.
It felt like a bad ripoff of Pride and Prejudice (one of my favorite books) and I’m still annoyed by it. Again though, Selina is the one bright spot — she is so great (except that she is in love with a massive jerk).
