After watching the movie, I thought I'd see if the book was better. It was not. The writing is stilted, the conversation inauthentic, and too much of the action happened in past tense descriptions. It's such a great premise for a plot, but the execution was just sorely lacking.
funny lighthearted fast-paced

It was cute- Julia is upset with wealthy, handsome Mr. Malcolm. He has a list of the qualities he is looking for in a wife and Julia does not have them. She brings her former schoolmate Seline to meet Mr. Malcolm, win his heart then break it. Seline does not want to do that- in fact, they fall in love. Of course, he eventually finds out what Julia’s plan was and is mad about it, but everything works out in the end.

Main male character is a pompous ass, only his appearance is described positively and yet she is hopelessly in love with him. Hardly ever read a book with so many rude, stupid and annoying characters. Put me in a bad mood simply reading it.

I couldn’t finish this book. The writing was so clunky I kept having to stop and reread sentences because the flow was so awkward.
