Entertaining to listen to in a long drive. Too predictable.
fast-paced
Definitely one of those books you pick up when you're without internet connection and find this has been the only downloaded book left on your phone. which was exactly what happened to me.
has the same mishaps a lot of fanfiction-turned-published-novels have. paper thin characters that make you feel like you're missing substantial source material. trope-y and rushed plot shenanigans that were silly and overdone.
However, this is an exceptionally easy read if, like me, you were also desperate for some mild entertainment in the form of a half-baked regency romance.

2.5. Liked the heroine and Henry; the two of them should have paired up.

This book was wildly entertaining. Yeah Malcolm was annoying, but I do see why he reacted the way that he did after he explained himself. 4/5⭐️s
Very quick, one-day read for me. Fun and simple. PG/PG-13 cute Regency (1818) love story.
The plot kind of reminded me of [b:On the Way to the Wedding|110388|On the Way to the Wedding (Bridgertons, #8)|Julia Quinn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1368840197l/110388._SY75_.jpg|1981453] in the sense of a house party and even just using the word "orangery" which rarely comes up in other genres of literature LOL.
I grabbed the DVD as well. I originally became interested in this book/story when I saw Gemma Chan in the teaser, but after she dropped out of the project, and with pandemic delays, I kind of forgot about it. Looking forward to a fun relaxed movie night soon.

Mr. Malcom’s List

- This was my first ever read not set in modern times. Not a huge fan of fantasy or historical fiction but slowly getting into them. I didn’t mind this book but not my favorite.
- This was a very easy and quick read for me. I liked the plot of the book but not so much the characters.
- Not a huge fan of the 3rd person POV. I wish I could know more about the characters feelings. It would’ve made the book more interesting in my opinion.
- The long chapters were very annoying.
- The constant schemes to make Mr. Malcom jealous enough to marry her got annoying towards the end. Just let the man have some time to think without another scheme popping up.
