I really appreciated reading about the specific scientists and how they came to their conclusions more than I thought I would. Even though it seems that string theory might be out of the picture, it was still a really fun read, but maybe I just love reading about science. Greene’s excitement for this theory is palpable and contagious, I couldn’t help but also feel super elated at the breakthroughs made even with the knowledge we have now. Took me a bit to get through, but it’s a dense book. I LOVE FIZIX (even when I don’t really know what’s going on)

A surprisingly easy to read physics book. What stands out in my mind is in the beginning of the book where he talks about the outrageous odds that we are here on this planet reading his book in the first place. If we agree with Darwin's theory, then we are the result of an unbroken line of billions of parents who all lived, survived to maturity, and reproduced and whose children did the same thing until it came to you.
It filled me with awe to think of how each of the initial baterium or cells of life evolved in an unbroken chain to produce me. It's even stranger if you don't plan to have kids because then that long chain of millions of years (or more) ends with...you.

This book felt way out of my league. Brian Greene's enthusiasm is contagious though.
I decided to listen to this book on audio as I have been contemplating my place in the cosmos more recently and also, many friends have read this and recommended it.
This all felt a bit overwhelming to me and I had to keep going back to listen to things over and over. It felt like one needed a background in physics or math to really grasp his concepts.
I have started the three part mini-series on PBS, if you are a beginner and interested in String Theory, and I highly recommend it thus far. It is three hours long and I am getting a better overview and understanding visually. I gave the book five stars because everyone I respect did and I know he has written something special here. I am just not sure I was qualified to start here.

I loved this book and found that it makes everything all very spiritual and reassuring in a very strange way.

This may be a book that I'll have to read multiple times to really get it but it was fun trying.
Physics, quantum mechanics and super string theory for dummies. Because of this book I find myself mildly obsessed with quantum mechanics. Greene uses lots of visual descriptions and is obviously in love with the science involved, which makes the reader love it too.
Well, it took me two months, but it was worth it.
A fascinating and brain-melting look at string theory, how we got there, and where it's going. If you enjoy theoretical physics, then this is definitely a must-read.
