Okay so this is going to be a short review but lets go. So I loved the writing & the setting but I did not enjoy the characters. They didn’t really strike my fancy sadly. I didn’t like them together and maybe that was because I really wasn’t a fan of the romance. But I definitely will recommend this book for other people. I can see why it’s so popular.

Desperate Measures was okay… This was a sexy retelling of Aladdin with Jafar as the MMC. I like that Jasmine handled her business. It was cool to read about some of the other fairy tale characters. I’m kind of interested in seeing where this goes.
Well a surprise when it wasn’t a retelling of Aladdin but instead a MILLION times better. Meg’s part is a little predictable but the ending is so badass it doesn’t even matter!! I yelled at my book “YOU GO GIRL!” As if the characters could hear me.
This reads more like a mafia romance and Jafar is the confused morally grey….nah he’s just a light shade of black, head of the mafia! Running around being an absolute unit while trying to protect Jasmine, but he is stifling her! So she fights against her cage and becomes the epic Phoenix she is meant to be! Fly little bird!

i saw Desperate Measures in store & opened it to a spicy quote & was immediately sold. honestly, the Disney retelling was a sweet little cherry on top! i really want to recommend the audiobook! it’s a duet narration graphic audio so there’s sound effects, music & allllll.
Yasmina has been held captive her whole life & has always wanted a way out. she essentially makes a bet with Jafar to gain her freedom & loses but decides she’ll still do anything for her freedom! everybody & they mama think she’s just a pretty little dumb thing which is a huge mistake because Yasmina is actually a badass bitch who never needed anyone to save her. 🤸🏾♀️
the story is a little dark (def not the darkest i’ve read lol), k!nky, hot, & i had so much fun reading/listening. 😛 i do wish maybe there was a little more backstory on Yasmina & Jafar for me to really buy into the Daddy/baby girl dynamic between them but the BDSM elements as a whole give us a whole layer to their relationship. (idk if that even makes sense) Jafar showed the perfect hint of tenderness by constantly checking in on her during their scenes. and the ones with Meg?!?!?!? 🧎🏾♀️ chile, i need to read her & Hades’ book STAT!!!! i really loved the bonus material/epilogue. Yasmina is that bitch fr
