Not entirely my speed.
I was curious on the retellings/approximations of Disney characters and this Jasmine x Jafar story was far darker than I anticipated. Featuring CNC-style encounters, DD/lg themes, FFM, bondage, death of a parent, emotional neglect and physical abuse on the part of the parent, this was a lot in a small package. I struggled to enjoy not because of the theming, but more because it felt like Robert was throwing everything and the canvas and seeing what would stick. The side characters ended up feeling more developed and I wanted to know more about them rather than just the spicy scenes of the fmc and mmc.

i loved seeing yasmina grow into herself throughout this book. she discovered how truly strong and powerful she is, and how deep jafar’s love and care for her runs.
with the spicy scenes, i especially appreciated the importance of aftercare and listening to the partner in the submissive role, and jafar did a beautiful job of listening to yasmina and her needs.
the new cover of this book is so stunning, and i thoroughly enjoyed all of the bonus content and the author annotations on some of the pages. the kink questionnaire at the end was like the cherry on top, and it was so interesting to see the different things that jafar and yasmina are into. i’ll definitely be pre-ordering the other books in this series!

I just read it because a friend insisted. That’s not the kind of book I enjoy and I’m not into retellings so there was no way I like this book. Sex is good, I’m not gonna lie, and I guess it’s not too much for people who enjoys erotic novels, but it is for me.
Very addictive, hawwwt and spicy. But also a bit cringe, not super well written, and really left me wanting to read something where I believed the characters’ connections.
All smut, weak plot. If that’s your kinda thing then sure was ok. But if you like some backbone to a storyline, this will come up short.
