I really enjoyed this series of books and am sad to see it end. This book was really a good read and wrapped up the story. My only problem was that I thought that Javier would have a different outcome and really was hoping for it. I found myself really rooting for him for some reason maybe down deep I thought that this man did have a heart and I was hoping that more of it would of been seen. But all in all I loved this trilogy.

Holy crappin' wow. What a wild ride! BOLD TRICKS was an amazing, action-packed, emotional conclusion to this crazy series. I loved every nail-biting word. Such a satisfying conclusion!

As good as I was expecting. I love Ellie, she's realistic in her mistakes and flaws. Larger than life, but she's not so messed up it's impossible to relate to her struggle to be good or so innocent that she's untouchable.

So I made it to the end of the trilogy, I guess.

And that about sums up my reaction to everything.

By the end of this trilogy, I actively disliked everyone involved. I get that to some extent the trilogy seems to be an exploration of the bad things people do for what might be good reasons, but I honestly had no reason to root for anybody here. Javier is an asshole, Camden has definitely crossed lines that I am actively uncomfortable with, and Ellie….I can't say I disagree with most of her choices, but I just don't care. She's not a person whose outcome I care about. If I had not bought the trilogy as a three-pack I don't think I would've bothered to go past the first book, and if I had not bothered to go past the first book, I would not be nearly so disparaging. Everyone went downhill, not in a way that made me cheer for them but in a way that made me ask why they should get nice things ever instead of paying the consequences of their actions. Book one tells us that Ellie wants to be a better person, and she even seems to….sort of try….multiple times, but the rest of the trilogy is her insisting "I want to be good" and then just not making choices that seem to reflect that supposed value. Meanwhile Javier is just infuriating (things I could have done without: the sexual assault!) and Camden….so what, he's just gonna violence his way through everything and that's fine?

Ugh. Basically.

These violent delights have violent ends

And in their triumph die, like fire and powder...

What a thrilling conclusion to such a take-no-prisoners series. Bold Tricks takes place immediately following the stunning ending to Shooting Scars without a moments pause. There is danger. Sex. Love. And best of all, resolution to the nagging question of who will Ellie choose
On one side of me was Camden McQueen, on the other was Javier Bernal. One more light than dark. One more dark than light. Both men had come for me, both men had loved me, and both of them I had underestimated.

Ellie, has once again, found herself between a rock (Camden) and a hard place (Javier); cue music.

Between car chases, gun battles, and plenty of pissing contests

there were moments of intense emotion and clarity
But when you’re told over and over again about how immoral you are, how bad, how wicked, how unlikable how terrible you are, it’s hard to hear anyone say any different. I felt like a fraud being good just as I felt like a fraud being bad.

and what was the focus of this torrid love story instead becomes a study of the human condition through the eyes of Ellie Watt.

The growth of her character over the events that took place in On Every Street to now are worth the journey. There is a duality to her character: unbreakable yet fragile, right but SO wrong. For so long I was Team Javier (aka Team BatShitCrazy) and I still am, but I am Team Ellie all the way. Her narration and inner monologue throughout this series is heartbreaking.

....and Camden McQueen. Well, I wasn't always his biggest fan. It's hard to compete with this:

but there is something so endearing about his love and loyalty for Ellie

I don't want to love you, Ellie, but I do love you. I cant stop myself.

But that doesn't mean you Team Camden people should count Javier out, because he might just surprise you...

Oh angel, you forget. You're the only one who gave me a soul. If I don't have one anymore, it's not my fault.

These characters are not innocent. They've each played a role as villain. But there is a humanity underlying between all of them (Javier too!) that leaves you second guessing, holding your breath, and praying for resolution.

If you're looking for a series that sets the bar for other books in terms of character depth, emotion and plot,THIS, is the one.

5 stars*

One of the best trilogies I've read in awhile.

Amazing! And a great ending!

OH. MY. GAWD!!!!
That was a RIDE! And the end... ohhhhh, I had a small heart attack there... I can't even review this, I'm so traumatized! BRAVO!!!! I'm so sorry to see this series end, but it was SO worth the read! Karina is a freakin genius!

I loved this trilogy from start to finish. This book lets you finally meet the "real" characters and it was a great way to end the series. Even tho I do wish there was more... Like what happened to the guy at the end???!! If u rea it u will know what I mean!!

***Spoilers***
I hate that there are only three books in this series.. Ellie's parents were con-artists, and taught her at a very young age how to get what she wanted by taking advantage of others. At eleven, she experienced first hand the tragedy of her parents greed, when she was caught trying to rob a cartel boss. He poured acid down her leg, scarring her for life, and robbing any chance that she could walk away and live a normal life. From that point on, she was drowning in her need for revenge, allowing it to shape all of her decisions, and her life.
Camden McQueen loved Ellie Watt from the first moment he met her as young teenagers. They were both outcasts, who came from terrible families, and the only friend each other had. Her need to fit in, to be normal, allowed her to make a terrible decision, hurting Camden, and losing the only person who ever loved her for her.
When they run into one another several years later, their only thoughts are their schemes to get what they want. Ellie wants money, and Camden has plenty. Camden wants a new life, and Ellie has the contacts to make that happen. What starts out as a strained truce, turns into love like neither has ever known.
Too bad Javier, Ellie's psycho ex-boyfriend is not content to sit back, and allow her to live happily ever after. In the end, everyone gets what they deserved, and I couldn't be happier with how it all played out!!
