OH MY GOODNESS. SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THIS BOOK. By the end of Being Jamie Baker, I couldn't have imagined how far Jamie's life would have changed within a year. Things were so familiar that they made me smile. I was dying from cuteness. And then it all (LITERALLY) blew up in my face.

I don't know how I feel about the ending, other than that I NEED to know what happens next. This could either end up being so incredibly heartbreaking and tragic, or Jamie could end up "happy" without knowing any better, or things could actually turn out properly. I have no idea what's going to happen next. It was left so open-ended, but in a strangely satisfying way.

Is Jamie Baker indestructible? The next book has so much promise.

More Than Jamie Baker was a great follow-up to one of my absolute favorite books ever; Being Jamie Baker. And let me just tell you; I need Remember Jamie Baker NOW!

More Than Jamie Baker starts off a year after the events of Book 1. While I was surprised, I think that was one hell of a great choice by Kelly (can I call you Kelly? I badgered you more than any author on this planet - I feel like I kind of nixed the whole respectable last name calling by now :/). It worked wonderfully well with the book, and let us experience a whole new setting.

Jamie, as usual, is a blast to live in. She's the pretty girl who knows she's pretty but has also been through enough to hate the attention. She's smart and stubborn, pretty hot-headed, a bit of a crier, funny, and--with her boyfriend, extremely sweet and soft.

Not that I can blame her. If Ryan Miller looked at me with those puppy eyes, I'd melt too. Because Ryan Miller is that amazing. He's sweet, caring, passionate, understanding, and happy-go-lucky. He's also a little full of himself (but in such a degree and manner that it just adds to his charm, oddly enough). Ryan Miller is at the top of the top of my book crushes. He is not my book boyfriend, because... well. He's got Jamie. I don't stand a chance between this power couple. Might as well just love him from afar and save me the rejection, you know?...

*coughcough* anyway, I'm sidetracking.

What I was planning to say, before going into a Ryan Miller Fan Girl Mode, is that we get to see Ryan and Jamie being very domestic in their relationship. They've already reached that balance, and they know each other--and what each other needs--so well it really just was the best of pleasures to get to see such a great relationship. Like Ryan himself, this couple is in my Top Ten couple list.

What's more, this two together are as HOT as they are SWEET. There are some really tasty kisses in this story, but don't worry - nothing more than that. Still YA ;)

Intruding on Ryan and Jamie's blissful relationship is Teddy. The Mysterious new guy from the summary. He's a computer geek. And I don't particularly like him. Might even venture into the hate section with him. The guy just can't take a hint! And he dissed my Ryan too many times. And... well... yeah, you'll have to see. But this guy is not on my fictional Christmas list (no Christmas here!)

However, for all of you worriers out there, like me, I'm glad to announce; there is no love triangle in this book, despite what the summary says. Actually, it's exactly what the summary says. The guy wants to steal Jamie. Jamie does not want to be stolen, and with a boyfriend like Ryan she's not even inclined toward the guy. She's not like other YA heroines who find two great guys. She has her great guy, and he's there to stay.

Anyone else has this weird feeling like this has turned into a Ryan Miller/ Rymie Fan Girl post more than anything else?... yes? Then let's move on.

My favorite part of the book (aside for Ryan and their relationship) was actually quite surprising, and it was the whole Mike situation. If you've read book 1, you know there is no love lost between most characters and Mike. But, this was beautifully and interestingly handled in this book, making Jamie and Mike's interactions one of my favorite parts of the book. Really hope we get to see more of that guy in the future.

As for the ending of this book... WARNING: CLIFFHANGER. And what a cliffhanger it is. I'm sitting at the edge of my seat, waiting for the next book. I need it, now. This was like... so not a friendly reader place to stop this book. I'm like, having a minor panic attack at the thought of it. Kelly Oram, I'll tell you again - I'll give you cookies if you publish next book now. COOKIES!

3.5 stars -- Oooooo, majorly conflicted!!! (also, spoilers for book one if you haven't read it)

OK, so part of my problem is that I kind of got a bit spoiled on parts of this book, just from being in Ms. Oram's fan club on Facebook and seeing parts of discussions go by no matter how much I tried to avoid them like the plague. I can honestly say I don't know how my thoughts on different parts would have played out if I'd been able to read this book organically without seeing any discussion about it. So if you haven't read this book yet, TRY WITH EVERYTHING IN YOU to do a better job of avoiding reading anything about it, b/c apparently people don't realize what is a spoiler (even just small things). So there's a part of me that's disappointed in that, though there's a tiny other part of me that thinks I may have noticed things happening and figured things out early on even without the spoiler. And yes, I get that I'm being extremely vague, but I'm trying to avoid what was done to me, you know?? (perhaps I'll add a spoiler section to my Goodreads review so I can discuss it)

OK, so I loved having Ryan and Jamie back. I was super surprised that this book was a bit after the end of BJB. For some reason I guess I just expected it to pick right up where the first book left off, not be a year later(ish). But it was nice to see Ryan and Jamie fully entrenched in their relationship and enjoying each other. I loved their banter and sweet moments, but occasionally I felt like something was missing between the two of them...but I can't pinpoint it, so maybe it was just that I love them so much I always want more.

I am still conflicted about the Mike/Becky subplot. There are parts of me that enjoyed the uniqueness of how it was dealt (what story actually bothers to pay any attention to the rapist?), but it's just inherently uncomfortable then and I'm honestly not sure how forgiving a person I am personally. I was also still kind of blown away that Jamie kept it from Ryan, no matter how she rationalized it.

And while I enjoyed Jamie's conflict over the accident situation, I sometimes felt like it was drawn out longer than I was expecting...or maybe not drawn out so much as revisited too often.

I loved seeing her become Chelsea's Angel, though I was disappointed that her disguise wasn't very disguising. But her heroics were so very Jamie-like, she really embraced that role.

Having seen teasers for the 3rd book, and having left reading this book so late, I wasn't at all surprised or taken aback by the epilogue to this book...so I guess it didn't bother me as much as it seems to have with other people. I could totally see it happening in that way.

My basic problem with this book all centers around one element. And unfortunately it's a major element.
SpoilerAnnnnnddd that element is Teddy. He is what was spoiled for me too. People keep talking about how they hate him in their reviews, so you kind of know from all that that he is going to be a villain of some sorts when he's first introduced in the book. Now that being said, he was always a bit creepy and kind of a dick, so I'm pretty sure I would have been suspicious regardless, but I guess I would have liked the opportunity to figure it out on my own, you know? Anyways, his behavior is so completely irrational and insane and so much time is spent on him (rightfully so), and I just ended up hating it and Jamie for not being smart enough to be more skeptical of him. And why? Because of his dimples?? Seriously??? I just...*sigh* No. I get that it's kind of emotionally impactful what's happened to Jamie now, but when you despise someone so wholeheartedly, it's hard to watch your fabled heroine be so oblivious to all the signs.
So I'm unsure how I'm going to enjoy the next book since that element still exists and will play a major part. It's having me waffling between rounding down or up on this one, and I honestly didn't expect that since I loved BJB so much. So like I said, very conflicted. It had a lot of great elements, but that one bad one could just overshadow all the good ones. :(

Reread: June 24, 2016

October 2014

I can't put into words the emotions I've felt after finishing More thanJamie Baker.I was so into the book--the characters, the plot, and everything that when I fiinally reaced the end, I felt so devastated.

There should better be a third book because I can't imagine what would happen to Jamie and Ryan. I was so brokenhearted at the last part of the book. It was as if my heart was torn into pieces that even Jamie's electricity couldn't revive it. I really want to electrocute Teddy till he die from an excruciating pain. Cruel? I don't think so. He deserve it! Such a heartless jerk.

Mixed emotions, that is. I want to cry because of what happened to Jamie, then there is Ryan who doesn't know a single clue of what happened to Jamie. But my emotions were overpowered by the hatred I have for Teddy. How could he?

But nonetheless, I still think that Kelly Oram is one of the best authors in today's generation. She captivates the heart of her reader very well. I just hope that she would not be so cruel enough to let her fans wait to long. I hope the third book will be out soon!

Another re-read for me! I love this book, it's just that I loved the first one more :P

Status: 30 May, 2016 - 79%.
Whyyyyyyyyy??? This is just so sad!!! And I love the way Kelly just makes you feel everything everyone is feeling right now. I am not crying. I am not, at all. Such an emotional scene that I can't believe you if you say you didn't at least got a little watery on your eyes. Come on!!

Status: 100%.
THIS. FREAKING. ENDING.
The first time I read I thought I was going to die from anxiety for the next book, but then things happened and that next book didn't come out until next month. And OH MY GOD. HOW COULD YOU, KELLY?! I really don't want to spoil anyone but DARN IT!!! I was so shocked (and mad) when I reach the epilogue that I just cursed the damn dude for a whole month!!! And I'm going to stop because I really don't want to spoil anyone :)

Kelly, I have no idea what the h... is waiting for me in Jamie 3. I just know I'm so freaking excited!!!

More Than Jamie Baker begins with Jamie and her friends in college. And once again she's at the site of an accident. The only issue this time is she didn't save the person. Now, Jamie and her boyfriend are determined to get her out there to help people, as long as she's safe. But she has cause for concern when people start following her, and when a new guy shows up Teddy. He starts to cause a whole lot of problems..

This one was good, but I hated the issues with Teddy. And I really hated the cliffhanger ending, and what it means. I'm a little nervous to read the next book now, but I really hope Teddy gets what he deserves. Other then that it was awesome seeing more of Ryan and Jamie together. And getting to see the whole plot line expand some! I really enjoyed this one a whole lot. And I do look forward to the next one!
