It was a fast read, but started like many of Grisham's more recent novels. As it went, I got hooked on the story. I would recommend this as a good beach novel, but not if you want some depth.
It's been years since I read a Grisham book. Honestly, I had grown bored with them as can happen when you read multiple books by the same author. Over the past couple of months I have read book after book that hasn't grabbed me, so I decided to head back to an old standard and pick up Grisham's latest book, The Litigators.
The Litagators grabbed me from page one and kept me hooked all the way until the end. This was one of those rare books that I had to force myself to put down in order to take care of the mundane like feed the family and sleep. Each character was developed to their potential and brought full circle. This was very satisfying! I appreciated how the author introduced the legal processes involved in this story without dumbing down OR going over the reader's head.
Thank you Mr. Grisham for a wonderful escape from the day to day routine of life!

I went through a john grisham phase while i was in high school and hadnt read any of his work since. I found this to be a fun, entertaining read.
You can always count on John Grisham to create a readable story that keeps you interested. High fiction and intricate plots it is not, but it was enjoyable enough.
While he has had a few 'less than stellar' books of late, Grisham delivers with a stong story steeped in legal jargon in this latest novel. I was hooked from page one and remain baffled at how he can write so fluidly about all sorts of legal topics.
While we have seen Grisham delve into the litigious side of the law in past thrillers, this one takes on a new angle. Introduce the young, wet behind the ears, lawyer out to make the world his oyster. Add some legal issue that begs for notice and justice and sprinkle in some character development and an underlying personal victory for the main character. That said, Grisham reforms the clay and makes this fresh and all together highly entertaining. The HUGE American drug manufacturers are salivating with all their successes and the question remains, could this latest drug be doing more harm? Grisham tackles the subject head-on and builds it up to a great courtroom climax... with an end that I will not reveal.
I loved the development, the dialogue, and the down right plausibility of this all happening. I have been a Grisham fan forever and lived through some minor disasters (pizza, anyone?), but this is the calibre I prefer and something that I cannot help but recommend to Grisham lovers, or even those who like a good legal thriller.
Kudos Mr. Grisham!

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. The characters were relatable and not the 'larger than life' people that you usually see in a John Grisham book. I loved the story line and the way things turned out to be. A complete page turner. Must read.
It's a long time since I've read an Grisham, but I really enjoyed this (so much so in fact that I've picked up another of his more recent books to read). It's a fun, engaging tale with likeable, believable characters and some nice humour. It labours the legal detail at times, and I would have preferred it without the somewhat distracting chapters about the defence team's work, but overall it was a solid and enjoyable thriller.
**3.5 stars**
Nice easy read with good enough characters to carry the story. wouldn't recommend to anyone looking for a court room drama as the majority of the story covers the build up to the trial and very little else. 3.5 stars based on likable underdog characters I routed for throughout.

Well written legal novel. I enjoyed reading it but struggled to empathise with any of the main characters.
Remember the opening of the movie Falling Down, with Michael Douglas? That's pretty much how this book starts out. Then after spending all day in a bar, our hero walks into an office, totally at random, and declares he wants a job. The particular office he has chosen is run by two total loser attorneys. Luckily, he happens to be a better one. And luckily, and very reluctantly at first, they hire him. The rest of the story starts in a trailer court and ends up in a real court, over a very large tort case. But, there's other things happening in the background, which makes for a totally unexpected ending. Good story, great finale.
