The book intrigued me but reading it wasn't that enjoyable. I like the story but it felt slow...Or at least it was hard for me to get into. I might just jump to the last book to see how it ends, cause I like the story, concept and some of the characters but I'm just not that invested.

I liked this story but it was slow and took me a while to figure out the back and forth of the story. Now I need to know what happens next!

Isn’t it funny, these little ironies? He could take back his heart because he grew indifferent, but I could not take back mine because I loved him no matter what he did.
Oh the feelings.
I mean, this book could have been so so much better. Maybe if it was a couple of 100 pages shorter.
The countless pages describing our MC's dancing and singing lessons were so painful to read I wanted to stop the book and start reading something else...like one of my text books.
But well, the writing was enchanting. There is no point in denying Rin Chupeco can write. The continuous POV shifting, the mixing of past and present, the almost creepy but intriguing atmosphere was enough to keep me engaged until the very end. Even though, it was a bit hard to get through the middle part of the book. But it was SO worth it!.
Can I repeat again? THE WRITING STYLE AND THE WORLD BUILDING IS EFFING PERFECT?
Can't wait to start the next book. (And maybe droll over the cover a little bit)

Interesting ideas, but I thought the world building could be fleshed out more - eg the whole conflict with the Faceless. Who are they and why do they dislike our protagonist? This is probably being saved for later books in the series, but it only served to make me not very invested in the plot.

I really really liked this book. I read it on a bus, and took some time to go back when it was quieter to reread pretty much everything at that point. The story is really intriguing, the magic is cool and ethereal. The characters are all snappy and sharp against one another. The story has a lot of threads that I am just begging to have answered. It's great when a book keeps drawing you in like this. Highly recommended.
