I might have approached reading this differently had I known it was the first of a series. Regardless, the pacing for the majority of the book was too slow for my taste, only getting really interesting in the last quarter. I found I didn't care much about any of the characters and didn't see much development either.

A little bummed here. With a promising cover and witches (!!!) I was hoping there would be more to the plot and characters. I felt as though the plot continued to introduce very exciting elements only to not expand on them or not dive into them enough to make the story interesting. Upon its end, I felt like the story moved, but it didn't "move." It didn't grip me and pull me in the way many books in this genre do. All that said, I am not so sure about how I feel trying the rest of the series.

This was honestly so slow and tedious to me; it felt more like a book on fashion than anything else. BUT after reading the second, it was SO worth it.
