I'm really starting to wonder who the pseudonym of Ruby Dixon is because I want to make sure I buy their other books! This is really good and tropey stuff.

Rukh has lived alone in the wild ever since his father died. When he resonates with a strange woman, he knocks her out and brings her back to his cave. Problematic!!! And yet... when Harlow wakes, she encounters a sweet, loving mate who hunts for her and learns her language.

TW:
Spoilerdubious consent between main characters due to compulsive soulmate bond, lots of pregnancy stuff, including complications

this one was really cute, I don't know why I decided to pick this series back up but this one did not disappoint.
I love how Rukh went from being alone to being apart of a tribe it makes me happy. I love how Harlow was willing to teach him and help him when he didn't understand basic needs.
it was a really cool idea with the whole "he doesn't even know how to talk" becuade he didn't need too. it wasn't like Oh he was a nothing thing when he hadn't bad her, but with her he wss able to understand and grow and thrive

Books 3 & 4 were both much better than 1 & 2 in my opinion, but would definitely still read as they are very much connected.

Oh I loved Harlow and Rukh!
After reading the author’s note, I could definitely see how she pulled in bits from Georgia’s, Liz’s, and Kira’s story into this one. I like how the communication was difficult between Harlow and Rukh - similar to Vektal and Georgia. It felt more “barbarian” if that makes any sense.
I also loved the new beach location!
And I like the reveal of the second generation!! Not a huge fan of what these characters are naming their babies, but whatevs.
I really hope more of these paperback special editions are coming out, cannot stop reading this series! Love love love!

Another decent installment. I liked Harlow a lot and found her past terminal illness a really interesting addition to the story (especially that the khui was capable of holding it at bay but not capable of curing it, which is a good limit on its magical healing powers). Rukh and their near-immediate romance left me mostly neutral, though. Dixon struggled a lot with representing Rukh's speech patterns (meaning, she was inconsistent in how well he could speak at different times in the book, as well as the next few books where Harlow x Rukh feature as side characters). It was also really difficult to reconcile his POV (which could be quite descriptive) with the fact that he had almost no language whatsoever.

It was a sweet romance, though, and Harlow x Rukh remain one of the central side couples throughout the series. I ended up liking them more in later installments, perhaps because at that point we were well through the awkwardness of Dixon trying to represent a character without language. We also got introduced to the Not-Hoth ocean in this one, which will feature prominently throughout later books (especially Josie's and Brooke's).

This book was ok... I enjoyed it but not as much as Kira's book. It was nice to see the hybrid baby tho!

I don't have much to say between the couple but I thought their dynamic was uh.... interesting... Harlow was pretty unique being a mechanic but it's sad we didn't get to see her strengths shine...  Rukh was probably my favorite thing about this book. Not sure why but seeing how he grows from a immature lonely being to someone who has a family and being more emotionally mature.

Again, I don't have much to say about this book but it was still a fast read!
