This was a pretty smart and well-paced thriller that kept me on my toes. I don’t know why but I always find the endings of thrillers really weird. Everything gets massive at the climax and then all cosy for the coda. Weird. But I guess this did it’s job.
The Chain was a very interesting read. It started off slow for me but I got really invested in the outcome about halfway through. The characters are like-able and I was rooting for them. I can’t give it 5 stars because it got a little predictable for me towards the end. I like to be surprised.
Great audio book. finished it in a day at 1.5x. had enough suspense, a few twists and well written.
So it’s a good book that started out really well! It was full of moments that took my breath away and the first few evenings I read it gave me night terrors that something similar had happened to me…BUT towards the end it got a little too predictable but it kept me interested enough to finish and make sure I knew who was behind The Chain. It is written well and there are subtle nuances throughout that tie together nicely at the end. I definitely recommend it!
You know it's a great book when you get angry that you have to put it down to go to work or to eat or to sleep. Loved it!
2 stars is probably too generous. The writing was sophomoric abs the dialogue ham-fisted. The premise piqued my interest for years but it did not live up to its lofty praise.
