I really, really loved this book. As a mother of a 13 year old, I found myself continually wondering how I would react in this situation.
Part one was really fast paced and I devoured it, by the second half I was ready for it to be over. The story dragged a little at the end. Unnecessary background on the twins and I rushed through it just to finish the book. Would still recommend it, 3.5.
I think I expected this to be a thriller or at least a scary thriller but it was more suspenseful and pretty predictable. I'm not mad at the book, but it just fell a little flat for me. I wasn't hooked from the beginning or on the edge of my seat at any point.
WOW. I could not stop reading this book. Anytime I DID have to stop all I could think about was how badly I wanted to get back to it!
This book reminds me a lot of The Collective in the sense of there being an underground network that targets moms. I also loved that book so I guess I’m a fan of this very specific trope.
Loses one star because Part 2 wasn’t as compelling as Part 1. The masterminds behind The Chain were way less interesting and scary as I was expecting.

Wow. This book took a minute to pick up but was completely worth the wait. But the last 10 chapters I was speed reading my way to the end! If I could give it a 4.5 I would.
There were multiple small twists that I thought was well placed in the end. And the main character was multidimensional and well established. It felt like I understood her without McKinty over doing it.

The kind of book you can't put down but want to throw across the room. A twisty thriller that drags you into a dark place with the question of "How far would you go to protect your child?"
