the fact that anne fielded FOUR proposals in this one singular book was frankly INSPIRING!!!! also anne and gilbert are literally everything to me!!! i'm excited for the next book!!!!

EDIT: I THINK IT WAS ACTUALLY FIVE PROPOSALS????? WHAT AN ICON!!!!!

چند بار نوشتم و پاک کردم.
اصلأ نمی‌دونم چجوری احساساتم درباره این جلد رو بگم.

This series continues to be infinitely sweet and charming, although I could still go for some more realness, such as more about her academic life rather than friendships and romances and entertaining side characters. It seems to be about caught up with where Anne with an E ended, though of course the show is wildly different. It’ll be exciting to see what Anne (and Gilbert) get up to next!

This is my favorite of all the Anne books. I have always wanted to live at Patty's Place with Anne, Priscilla, Stella, and Philippa. I do often want to smack Anne in the head over the whole Gilbert thing -- but overall, I love it!

“I do know my own mind. The trouble is, my mind changes and then I have to get acquainted with it all over again.”

Out of all the books of the Anne of Green Gables series, this will always remain my favourite one. Even through this re-read my feelings for this book has increased since the last time I read it.

In this book we see Anne span from the age of 17 to almost 21 going through getting her Bachelor’s of Arts and being the first female of Avonlea to do such a thing. However, that’s not my favourite thing about Anne this time.

I think I’ve pin pointed my favourite parts of Anne from the last books, with Anne of Green Gables it was her never losing her imagination, with Anne of Avonlea it was her sudden maturity and growth, however with Anne of the Island it was her confusion with herself and her feelings toward certain individuals as well as her future and what it entails.

I felt the most connected with Anne in this book than the last two and it makes the most sense as to why. I chose the quote that I did because it’s not the easiest to change your mind especially when you’re changing something major specifically toward your future in anyway, and seeing her out of all people start to worry about that shows that even the people you consider the be the best of the best also struggle with what they want. Long story short, I love Anne Shirley and I love when she tries to figure things out for herself and end up triumphing at the end.

SPEAKING OF THE END, IT ALWAYS MAKES ME HEART SWELL WITH JOY UUUGGHHH! I love, love. I just please. That’s all I’m going to say hahahaha. Now onto the next book of the series :).

What I read: Anne of the Island by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Why I picked it up: I’ve been wanting to re-read the Anne books for awhile so I’ve been getting them on audio.

How I read it: On audio while at my brothers packing and cookie – finished up in the car yesterday.

What it’s about: Anne is going to college. She and her friends find a place to rent so they can get out of the boarding house. Roy courts her, and even asks her to marry him. Gilbert gets very sick, but his love for Anne helps him recover. This is the book when they finally find each other, and she realizes she loves him with all her heart (he’s know he loves her since the day he called her carrots)!

What I liked: I love the coming of age quality of these books, and I’m looking forward to continuing to re-read.

What I disliked: I wasn’t especially a fan of this narrator – but I think she’s the one who does the rest, so I’ll have to let go of that (or read them on paper).

Genre: Young Adult, coming of age, chaste love story.

Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and yes – but only as a whole set.

When did we go from Anne gets into scrapes to everybody gushes over Anne and her beauty and falls in love with her? Still charming, though.
