I love this book and really enjoyed reading it. Anne is such a special character and the way she interacts with life offering her unique perspective is something that makes reading this book again and again not get old. Especially because of our similar situations, her character really jumped out of the page while reading and I resonated a lot with a lot of her musings and feelings
SHE GETS CATSSS
also rlly hoping for a wedding of anne & gilbert in the next book.

OH MY GOD GILLLLLLLLLLLLLLBEEEEEEEEEEERTTTTTTTTTTT
who can not swoon over this love story guyzz???
Anne finally goes to freaking college, and while her college life is a lot different than mine, it's still all about the parties and the boyzz.
Interestingly enough, no alcohol! Not a single drop!
We meet Anne's roommates! Priscilla, unfortunately, is like the "SHUT UP SO I CAN STUDY/ SLEEP" roommate, which I had the benefit of never having, but heard horror stories about. Phillipa is a love, as she can aptly describe herself. You know what has changed my life forever about her? The phrase "I must prop my eyelids open." you have no idea how many times I've used that phrase as I talk to people before I head off to bed. Phillipa is my new best friend. Oh wait, was Stella the annoying roommate? Well Priscilla and Stella are pretty much one in my mind, as nothing really happens to them.
Besides the one SUPER delicious scene where Gilbert confesses he loves Anne and she's all "No! I want more exciting things than a childhood romance!", there is very little Gilbert in Anne of the Island.
Instead, we meet Royal Gardner, which I'm really sorry but I always imagine as "the royal gardener".
Unfortunate name there, chap. And an unfortunate mother, which I guess is really the issue.
He is dark and handsome and very very rich. But alas, Anne realizes at the very last minute she does not love him for some obscure reason and then kicks him out of her life.
Then Gilbert gets REALLY SICK and finally Anne realizes that she and Gilbert were made and meant for each other and does not toss her pretty little head about it.
FIVE STARS FOR DRIVING ME MAD BUT HAVING ME CAPTIVATED ANYWAY. Also, the amount of quoting I can do about this book slightly scares me.

Each book is just as enchanting as the one before. I didn't read this series at all until I was an adult, although i'm not sure if I would have appreciated it as much then as I do now.
Uhh, how I love a good Anne novel.
While many new characters get introduced in this book, my personal highlight next to the beginning slow burn romance arc is little Davy.
I think Davy's character really begins to shine in the charming letters he writes Anne while she is off at college. His catch phrase "I want to know." is just adorable.
5/5
